Egoistic approach to “Egotism” – Revealed

Egoism is the very essence of a noble soul-

Quite a lot of people asked me why I named my blog Egoistic life and What’s the difference between “Egoistic” and “Egoitistic“. Well, Let me start from latter.

While similar, they have some important differences. Consider this note on usage from the Oxford Dictionaries:

The words egoism and egotism are frequently confused, as though interchangeable, but there are distinctions worth noting. Both words derive from Latin ego (‘I’), the first-person singular pronoun.Egotism, the more commonly used term , denotes an excessive sense of self-importance, too-frequent use of the word ‘I,’ and general arrogance and boastfulness. Egoism, a more subtle term , is perhaps best left to ethicists, for whom it denotes a view or theory of moral behavior in which self-interest is the root of moral conduct. An egoist, then , might devote considerable attention to introspection, but could be modest about it, whereas an egotist would have an exaggerated sense of the importance of his or her self-analysis, and would have to tell everyone

So My blog is Egoistic, But not Egotistic

Why  I called it Egoistic Life? Here is my take on it. I truly believe that It’s really importand to have a strong Egoistic core in oneself. Your Inner driving power that is independant from all that surround us. Everything we do Must be done for our own good. Not in someone’s name or idea. How many times We’ve heard “What else can I do? I have a family to feed”, “I know I hate Her, But we have kids” Many people become miserable because of “someone else’s “Happiness”"  and in fact make people they “do it for” also miserable. It’s within our comfort zone to love ourself and be happy. People just forgot it in this rat race. Why won’t they divorce crazy bitch and find happiness with someone els? They can make so much more and make more happy people instead of disasters. And so on. You got the point.

Be happy,

Egoistically Yours,

Is there a straight line that divides these two characteristics or do we tend to have a bit of both. I am aware that there are persons who border too much on the side of egotism but I do believe that a bit of both – 80% vs 20% in favour of Egoism would be accfeptble! What are your comments?
