Why you should CARE to have a GOOD business and why GROUPON SUCKS!!!!

GOOD:GoDaddy – YOU RULE!

I just hung up the phone with GoDaddy.com customer service. For those of you who don’t know who or what GoDaddy is it is a domain registrar as well as other internet service providers. I don’t use them for anything but domain registration so I can’t say about other service.  Man!!! What an incredible job they do. Because of frequent change of my IP addresses from all over the world sometimes they prevent me to pay online because of fraud protection. And I have to call them. But unlike other customer support calls, I actually LOVE calling them. It takes me under 20 seconds to get to the right REAL person. And these people are good. Every time! Consistently GOOD! Not once, not twice, but EVERY F!@$ing time!!! And you know why? Because they CARE. And I feel it. I love going to their web site, I love receiving newsletters from them, I use their promotional coupons, I LOVE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM!

BAD!!!

I also checked status of my request to Groupon HK#121268… Oh, wait a second. There’s a story. I purchased groupon for HPV vaccine. This new stuff seem important. Kids (girls) in Canada receive it in grade 5. Because I don’t live in Canada at the moment, I had to purchase it but price tag of 800 CAD was a bit high. Groupon HK were selling it at roughly 300$. I bought it. I didn’t plan to do medical aesthetic radio frequency eye treatment, but vaccination was selling point. Lifetime Protection: $2199 for a HPV vaccine cash voucher including all 3 injections and medical aesthetic radio frequency eye treatment at Med-Skin ($7200 value)

BAD #1! Medskin Hong Kong - YOU SUCK!
I should have checked their site first. “Very clean design and informative”. Yes, they advertise in English, which you can easily spot on their site. No way to translate it because it’s all on FLASH, however it’s not really relevant.

I set up and appointment with them 2 weeks ahead of time. I came with my daughter from China to their office, filled all papers, coupon code was provided also. We were waiting for 45 minutes (literally). Then the  receptionist approached and said that I should have HK address instead of Canadian. Thanks to my friends and long term presence in HK I actually have an address there and I filled it in. She left. 30 minutes later she comes back and said that they can’t proceed because this vaccine suitable for 18 years old+ (My daughter is 12). It is BULLSHIT because HPV is actually STD and girls should be vaccinated BEFORE their sexually active life. Here’s what CDC (Centers for Desease Control) tells us

Which girls/women should receive HPV vaccination?

HPV vaccination is recommended with either vaccine for 11 and 12 year-old girls. It is also recommended for girls and women age 13 through 26 years of age who have not yet been vaccinated or completed the vaccine series; HPV vaccine can also be given to girls beginning at age 9 years.

Will sexually active females benefit from the vaccine?

Ideally females should get the vaccine before they become sexually active and exposed to HPV. Females who are sexually active may also benefit from the vaccine, but they may get less benefit from it. This is because they may have already gotten one or more of HPV types targeted by the vaccines. However, few sexually active young women are infected with all HPV types prevented by the vaccines, so most young women could still get protection by getting vaccinated.

Apparently their doctors are not aware of this. I have been given 2 options. Get full refund or Do it at my OWN RISK. I chose the latter. Another 25 minutes later she comes out saying that doctor changed her mind and they will not honor the coupon. I should contact Groupon and ask for refund. Upset but not disappointed we went to the movies.

BAD#2 GROUPON! YOU SUCK! And I don’t care if it’s just your HK office. If you can’t control it, downsize!

Looks like Groupon Loves dealing with MedSkin.

I got back home and next day wrote a letter to customer service of Groupon and received acknowledgment.

Vladimir Pashkov (Personal), Dec-08 21:13 (HKT):

Hello

My name is Vladimir Pashkov

I purchased coupon
Date of purchase: Sep 12, 2011
Valid from Sep 20, 2011 to Mar 20, 2012
Lifetime Protection: $2199 for a HPV vaccine cash voucher including all 3 injections and medical aesthetic radio frequency eye treatment at Med-Skin ($7200 value)

I visited Med Skin and they refused to honor your coupon and after 1 hour at their office they advised me to claim refund. Their explanation was that it was JUST for HK residents. So my daughter didn’t receive it. PLEASE REFUND IN FULL

Thank you

2 weeks later I emailed again. Status of trouble ticket was “under review”. Sorry, no picture proof. Well, I checked it today (I have very strong sentimental attachment to my 300$). AND my issue was “RESOLVED” without my knowledge. No phone call, email, refund. I also LOVE information. RESOLVED OR DELETED! WTF? It’s not the same.

I also called them. “All lines are currently engaged” – was the answer. they prompted to leave a contact number and name and…..Hung UP.

No call, No email, No money, no Apology, no CARE! To be continued…..

There is so little businesses that ACTUALLY CARE, especially among corporations. However GoDaddy proves it’s possible to be big and personal because they care. And here is my little New Year Wish:

I wish GoDaddy is not to screw up in the long run. I wish groupon to return my money. Enjoy your IPOs, Deals, money. You were cool to watch as a startup, now you are one of corporate monsters with no personality. I wish consumers to buy LESS STUFF. Even when it’s on sale. Support your community and local economy. I Wish business owners not to go to Groupon. Not to devalue your product. Learn marketing and generate organic customers. Not cheap deal hunters.

P.S. How many times do you come to your favorite restaurant and order a steak. THIS IS the Best steak in country. You recommend it to your friends, family, brag about it and then one day you are going back imagining how juicy and tasty it is, your taste buds are excited, endorphins pump into your brain, you sit down and order. Tired waitress takes your order, forgets to ask how you want your steak done and 20 minutes later you receive a piece of charcoaled piece of meat. Then she tells you that they received different type of meat and this texture is RIGHT and it actually is medium rare. OK. It’s an incident. You try it again and it’s not how it used to be. It’s not BAD, but it’s average. That’s pretty much it. It’s not just a steak. It’s a broken heart. Destroyed love and relationship. Now you should find another place  to love.

Anyway, people. No matter if you like your Job or not, be professional and caring. It will influence your life outside of your work. It is your duty to lead a happy life. So do everything GOOD. Care!

Egoistically Yours,
VP
